Rajon Rondo Wants Out of Boston, According to Jackie MacMullan

Rajon-Rondo-Annual-Salary-and-His-Net-WorthNothing like a little trade report at the end of August to shake things up on the Rajon Rondo front. This latest tidbit is from an edition of Around The Horn on Wednesday afternoon. On the preshow, Jackie MacMullan and Frank Isola were discussing who would be the next star to be moved now that Kevin Love has been dealt. MacMullan, as was pointed out first by our friend Jay King over at MassLive.com, dropped a big nugget about Rondo’s wishes.

“Oh, I hope so,” MacMullan said of whether Rondo would be next to move. “Just get it done. And it will happen because [Rondo’s] told them he wants out. And no one believes me, but that’s the truth. I don’t see how you get 80 cents on the dollar for him. Tell me where.”

You can watch the full video clip after the jump. We’ll have plenty of more analysis on the impact of the rumor later today, but as you might imagine this might have a drastic impact on Boston’s rebuilding plans, if true.

Damn it, this is going to make it even harder to get fair value for Rondo.

We can’t get 50 cents on the dollar for him. But we can stick Gerald Wallace with him.

Not saying this is the trade we should do, but the one I found plausible before was

    Rondo-Wallace
    for
    Hibbert-Copeland-Sloan-2016 1st rounder
    ___
    Smart-Bradley-Hibbert = Top 5 defense

    • Joe

Wishful thinking = Rondo and Bradley for Westbrook and Adams

Maybe Batum or Matthews paired with Thomas Robinson…

Also have to look into 3-team trades. Stoudemire for Rondo-Wallace as a core would be solid. The Knicks could trade guys like Shumpert, Calderon, and Bargnani’s expiring in exchange for more picks to come our way.
      ___
Smart is arguably better on defense & as a scorer. His playmaking isn’t close to Rondo yet, but for a 20 year old, he can grow.

And we’d have cap space for next summer.

      • Joe

Good point. I would prefer to pick Shumpert up as well.

I think that Smart is going to be rookie of the year, especially if Rondo is out. I hate losing him, but we have the perfect replacement.

Is there anybody who is really available even?
