The Celtics lost to the Philadelphia 76ers. Let’s not sugarcoat things – losing to a team that just dropped 26 in a row is rough. But as you peruse these grades, you will see a lot of positivity. Why? Frankly, I thought a lot of players were decent tonight individually. The team struggled to play together, and I docked a lot of the bigs for their awful defense around the rim, but I didn’t hate myself watching this game.
Anyway, here are the grades:
|Brandon Bass, PF 30 MIN | 5-10 FG | 2-2 FT | 11 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 1 BLK | 0 TO | 12 PTS | -9
Bass worked really hard in the first half but succumbed to the awfulness in the second. He gets docked for the interior defense along with the rest of the bigs.
|Jeff Green, SF 33 MIN | 4-8 FG | 6-8 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 2 TO | 15 PTS | -9
15 points on eight shots is absolutely an acceptable line from Jeff Green. Was he always as aggressive as he could have been? No, but I’ll take an efficient evening.
|Kris Humphries, C 15 MIN | 2-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | -10
Not sure why he didn’t play more minutes.
|Rajon Rondo, PG 38 MIN | 4-7 FG | 3-5 FT | 11 REB | 16 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 7 TO | 11 PTS | -11
Efficient line, highlight plays, a triple-double, a ton of assists…poor Rondo. This season has to be killing him.
|Jerryd Bayless, PG 39 MIN | 8-20 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 6 TO | 23 PTS | -8
A lot of shots, but a lot of production and really solid 3-point shooting. All in favor of keeping Bayless, a show of hands? /raises hand
|Chris Johnson, SF 19 MIN | 2-11 FG | 4-4 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 9 PTS | -3
Ton of effort, minimal production.
|Jared Sullinger, C 30 MIN | 5-11 FG | 0-0 FT | 6 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 3 TO | 10 PTS | -2
Fouled out in 30 minutes and was one of the main culprits allowing the 76ers to get whatever they wanted around the basket.
|Kelly Olynyk, C 20 MIN | 6-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 6 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 1 TO | 14 PTS | +3
Kelly is starting to realize that he needs to take open 3-pointers. If he took as many open looks as he got, he might be averaging 18+ points over the past few weeks.
|Phil Pressey, PG 15 MIN | 2-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 4 PTS | +4
5’11 Phil Pressey dunked, so he gets an A+.
Tonight was probably the most down Stevens has seemed after a loss all year. This season is either going to light an unquenchable fire in his stomach or break him like china.
