Yet another close loss. Don’t worry Gerald/Joel/everybody who watches these games: Just nine more to go.
|Brandon Bass, PF 29 MIN | 6-12 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 12 PTS | +3
What would YOU give Bass for the same line he’s put up in every game since the dawn of time?
|Jeff Green, SF 30 MIN | 6-17 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 3 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 16 PTS | 0
Not Green’s best game, but how much more can you legitimately ask from him when he scores 16 points, grabs five rebounds and shoots 50 percent from 3-point range? This type of line is worth $9 million/year.
|Kris Humphries, C 22 MIN | 4-5 FG | 6-8 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 14 PTS | -4
Humphries has had a couple of mediocre nights consecutively, so 14/8 is a good sign for him.
|Rajon Rondo, PG 38 MIN | 7-13 FG | 1-2 FT | 4 REB | 11 AST | 2 STL | 0 BLK | 6 TO | 17 PTS | -4
This was lowkey an excellent game for Rondo. He controlled the pace nicely, and even though he still looks slow (which is to be expected), he scored well around the basket. Although his stats won’t back it up, I still maintain his shooting stroke looks considerably better.
|Avery Bradley, PG 33 MIN | 3-12 FG | 2-2 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 8 PTS | -3
Where have you gone, Bradley’s jumper? The starters turn their lonely eyes to you.
|Chris Johnson, SF 15 MIN | 0-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -4
So much hustle, so little production. He avoids the D-range for his incredible chase-down save in the first half.
|Jared Sullinger, C 27 MIN | 6-11 FG | 2-3 FT | 10 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 2 TO | 16 PTS | -8
Do you give Sullinger credit for knocking down two clutch 3-pointers or discount them since the game was basically over at that point? Either way, he had a nice game with the double-double, battling Chicago’s tough big-man rotation.
|Kelly Olynyk, C 18 MIN | 3-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 7 PTS | -1
A high-efficiency, low-usage evening for Olynyk.
|Jerryd Bayless, PG 28 MIN | 5-9 FG | 1-1 FT | 2 REB | 1 AST | 3 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 12 PTS | -4
Really, it’s hard to be mad at what Bayless has brought to the table. He’s been shooting well consistently, and he is a REAL combo guard, not a shooting guard who can dribble up the floor sometimes. He says he wouldn’t mind sticking around next season, and Boston might be well served by following up on that.
|Joel Anthony, C DNP COACH’S DECISION MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS |
Brad Stevens wants to play a real center instead of Humphries at the five…just not the center he has on his roster.
|Phil Pressey, PG DNP COACH’S DECISION MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS |
A casualty of Jerryd Bayless’ productive play, which is a knock against those who claim the Celtics are tanking outright.
|Chris Babb, SG DNP COACH’S DECISION MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS |
