As I wrote about earlier this week, the Celtics have been a relative offensive disaster for most of the last two months. In a related story, they also have not been healthy in the past two months either. Now though, Rajon Rondo has his legs under him again and flirted with a triple-double for the first time all season. Jeff Green responded to a bunch of articles calling him out for an 1-for-12 performance on Sunday with a monster 36 points. Jared Sullinger had his 3rd straight double-double.
And wouldn’t you know it, the Celtics took care of business down in Philly. They have a two-game winning streak for the first time since December 16th! That’s nearly two months! Now people shouldn’t get too excited about this, nor should the tanking crowd get too worried about it. The Celtics have won 2 straight games and beat two straight teams they SHOULD beat. That hasn’t happened in awhile. What was refreshing was seeing some smooth offense captained by Rondo for the first time in a long time. That’s nice to see.
Tom will have more on this one shortly in the meantime, Danny Ainge should be burning up the phone lines with Jeff Green offers. The C’s should also feel thankful they didn’t lose on this 3-ball.
