Just another day, another big first quarter lead, another loss after a fourth-quarter collapse, despite another big performance by Jared Sullinger.
Trevor Ariza poured in 27 points, including five 3-pointers, and John Wall scored 20 points while dishing out nine assists. The Wizards kept chipping away after the Celtics held them to just 14 points in the first quarter (and dropped 30 on yet another hot start), and despite an offensive explosion by Avery Bradley early in the fourth, Boston couldn’t get late stops or buckets, and Washington pulled away for the win.
The Celtics are 12-16 and in a tenuous place — tied with the Raptors for first in the Atlantic and 3.5 games ahead of Philly for last with a road game against the Pacers looming tomorrow.
