|Brandon Bass, PF Shot Chart 14 MIN | 0-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 0 PTS | -3
“Brandon, Daryl Morey is calling about trading Omer Asik for you. I don’t wanna do it but I also don’t want to hurt his feelings. I need you to take five shots inside ten feet tonight and backrim them all.”
|Jared Sullinger, PF Shot Chart 36 MIN | 7-14 FG | 9-11 FT | 11 REB | 5 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 24 PTS | -9
Lots of people talk about how strong Nikola Pekovic is because his arms are big or whatever. For basketball purposes, Sullinger is stronger than Pekovic. His butt muscle is the most powerful muscle in basketball. When a rebound approaches, it clears a three-foot radius just with rhythmic flexing. It causes plate tectonics. Sullinger bossed around two bigger guys tonight, and right now he’s the best player on this team. It’s not even all that close.
|Avery Bradley, PG Shot Chart 33 MIN | 9-17 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 19 PTS | +6
Feels like opposing teams haven’t caught on to Bradley’s shooting yet. They still remember Point Guard Avery Bradley, who couldn’t shoot because he was distracted thinking about how he was gonna have to dribble again pretty soon. Shooting Guard Avery Bradley can shoot, especially from midrange, but he’s still getting space. That’s great! Hope it goes on forever.
|Jeff Green, SG Shot Chart 31 MIN | 3-11 FG | 1-1 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 2 BLK | 3 TO | 8 PTS | +6
“Jeff, Daryl Morey is calling about trading Omer Asik for you…”
|Jordan Crawford, SG Shot Chart 35 MIN | 6-14 FG | 2-2 FT | 4 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 15 PTS | +13
Tonight Crawford forced an idiotic turnover, then slapped his head really hard. This is a good thing. He realized what he did was bad. Brad Stevens has taught him the difference between right and wrong.
|Kris Humphries, PF Shot Chart 21 MIN | 4-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 7 REB | 2 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 8 PTS | +14
Easily Humph’s second most productive game of the year. Thought I saw him dunk at one point but that’s impossible because he would have had to jump. Maybe someone gave him a boost or he stepped on a springy board.
|Gerald Wallace, SF Shot Chart 17 MIN | 1-3 FG | 1-3 FT | 2 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | -2
Gerald is so good at looking involved. He probably touched the ball five times tonight but still felt like an “essential role player” for some reason. Sneaky Gerald.
|Kelly Olynyk, C Shot Chart 13 MIN | 2-3 FG | 3-4 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 9 PTS | +2
It’s unfortunate that Kelly basically has to be the deadliest shooter in basketball history just to be net productive. That’s how bad his defense and rebounding are. Multiple times tonight Kelly would grab boards only to have them plucked out of his slow, mushy hands before he could bring them down. He’s like a rebound valet.
|Vitor Faverani, C Shot Chart 12 MIN | 3-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 1 BLK | 0 TO | 6 PTS | +4
Thank Brazilian Jesus that Vitor has moved his offense inside lately. Feels like every big on this team just wants to shoot threes all the time. Refreshing to see at least one guy is willing to just be a big weirdo under the basket.
|Phil Pressey, PG Shot Chart 13 MIN | 2-6 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 0 TO | 4 PTS | -9
|Courtney Lee, SG Shot Chart 15 MIN | 1-4 FG | 2-2 FT | 1 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 4 PTS | -2
Also pretty good!
Steve Braddens played 11 guys at least 13 minutes and they basically all contributed. Good job, Steve!
One Thing We Saw
- Huge game for Tommy tonight. This one probably goes on his retirement reel, which is probably coming two years sooner after tonight. He doesn’t even really call games anymore. He just screams at the refs, and the fact that his screams are broadcast to an audience of millions on a national feed is of secondary importance.
