After being rumored for weeks, the Celtics are on the verge of adding yet again to their already crowded roster situation. According to Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears, Boston will be bringing aboard Brazilian center Vitor Faverani. The 25-year-old big man played in the Spanish league last season and will help fill in Boston’s front line, that was lacking in depth at the center position behind Fab Melo at the moment.
Danny Ainge spoke on Faverani today at the team’s press conference, but did not indicate a signing had been finalized with the center.
“Vitor Faverani, we are still in discussions with,” Ainge said. “We’ve followed him, we’ve seen him play for a few years.”
Ainge also declined to comment on the playing style of Faverani, electing to wait until if and when a deal is finalized. So what can we expect from the big man, assuming a deal goes through?
Let’s go to the tape!
