Post-game Reactions

You really didn’t think it was over yet, did you?

For about the third time in the past week, trade talks died between the Celtics and Clippers on Friday afternoon, and Doc Rivers reportedly informed the Clippers he was no longer interested in their head coaching position. You won’t believe it, but that storyline has changed in the past hour!

CH’s Take: I’ll be blunt and honest at this point. We’ve probably given this story too much ink in the past week as is, given the twists and turns of the situation. That comes with the joys of dealing with the Clippers in any situation. While we wait to see if this deal actually comes to fruition and see what are the next dominoes to drop in this situation, (Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce).

Until then though, we’ll stay quiet.

Who might the next coach be? Would Brian Shaw be considered a candidate?

    • janos

      hi ferd
best coach option players most win us and rondos thrives

  • I_Love_Green

Please just let this be over already!

  • hax

    Best offers for our assets
1st round pick – doc rivers
    deandre jordan – kg
    2 2nd round picks – pierce

just ouch. Really hope we keep pierce.

    • dasein

Even more insulting, the same team that offered the 2 2nds for Pierce, offered the 19th for Marion and the 13th.

  • Daniel

why did DA give up on bledsoe?!??
I kind of feel like the best thing for pierce is to have one last shot at a title with KG and Doc in LA, his hometown. I'd like to see that more for our captain then have to go through another rebuild stage, we owe it to him to give him and KG one last title run and then retire in LA.

Please explain why DA is settling for draft pick risk as opposed to a future all-star/great trade chip in bledsoe!!!!

    • Mark

Because it was a non starter for the Clips? Negotiations are a give and take.

    • Jstokes

Because coaches don't result in quality assets in trades. Even the clippers aren't incompetent enough to trade Bledsoe for a coach.

      • dasein

You're not allowed to "trade" a coach anyway, i.e. cant get a player back. Only compensatory picks and cash allowed.

I still think Danny was too soft here. We don't deal, doc walks, who cares really. We don't deal, CP3 walks…big difference.

  • It’s ironic that we’re basically trading Rivers for a future young player whom Doc probably would never have played anyway!

  • Mark

What is frustrating about this is Danny gave in to the Clippers at every turn. I'm actually shocked the Celtics got a pick out if the deal.

I beg the owners of the Celtics to please dump Danny after he trades KG and Pierce. He's one of the more overrated GMs in the league. The brains of the Celtics is now sitting in Phoenix.

Dump ainge. Dump ainge. Dump his sorry ass. Fuck the celtics

  • g12

..until they fire ainge and pick up someone who knows their stuff

here comes the 221 years of sucking

  • Steve

Send Ainge packing. Make Bird an offer he can’t refuse. Hire Shaw

  • ghoulbuns

If KG and Pierce leave because of this, DA is the biggest fool in the history of the league. If the players stay, I welcome the prospect of a new coach. Honestly, Doc holds this team back something awful. Big ifs though.

  • g12

    Dump ainge

  • g12

Dump ainge. Can i be more clear ….
