An Honest Effort: Heat 109, Celtics 101

An admirable effort from the B squad, but they aren’t going to beat these guys when they are all playing. Thankfully, Jeff Green appears to be okay after a nice effort and the Bucks lost again, meaning the Celtics can wrap up the 7th seed with one more win. Grades coming in the A.M.

P.S. Pour one out for Kobe tonight. Hate to see a guy go down like that.

Who has the courage to say we do not miss Ray now? C'mon, I dare you.

I don't miss Ray because Ray would never get the kind of shots with Boston as he does with Miami. How soon we forget that when the Celtics tried to get Ray's offense going during the second half of his last season here, he often couldn't get off his shot – and that was with Rondo on the court.

If Jason Terry, Paul Pierce, Jeff Green, Jordan Crawford, or Courtney Lee played with LeBron and Wade, they would be shooting just as well as Ray is now. There is absolutely no pressure on the Heat's 3-point shooters knowing you've got two super-horses and either one or both can dominate a game if they so choose. You've surrounded them with other knock-down 3-point shooters like Battier, Miller, Lewis, and Jones, so defenses can't just focus on Ray because everyone else – including LeBron and Wade – can 3-point you to death (sort of like the Celtic's 2007-2008 championship squad, no?). And now even that idiot Chalmers along with Cole are shooting lights out from downtown. Ray absolutely should thrive on a team like this.

Hell, my ancient ass could probably shoot 35% from 3-point land playing with damn-near unstoppable guy's like LeBron and Wade! But the point is Ray would be a better fit for almost every other playoff bound team (and a few more who aren't) than he would in the Celtic's disjointed and uneven offensive scheme. I've said it before – that's not a knock on Ray, it's just the recognition that last year's and the current edition of the Celtics don't or can't do the things that utilize Ray as effectively as other teams.

Ray as so many of you forget was hurt last year and needed surgery at the end of the saeson. He also was frustrated with Rajon not sharing the ball when he was wide open many ,many times.l. Top that off with the Celtics almost trading him so he decided to leave. The Celtics . I will always be a Ray Allen fan. He would have been a much better fit then Jason Terry if we could have kept him. Jason Terry has been a disaster.

It’s not about not missing him. It’s about who’s with you is who’s with you.

All credit to Kobe, but 1. he and D'Antoni were idiots for the minutes he was playing and 2. the Lakers shot 50 free throws in that game.
