The Celtics need some reinforcements, but they won’t be getting them tonight. While Kevin Garnett is expected to be sidelined for a couple weeks with left ankle inflammation, Courtney Lee is still nursing a sprained left ankle as well. The shooting guard is day-to-day, but Rivers is not optimistic about his chances of playing tonight against Cleveland.
“I doubt it,” Rivers admitted when asked if Lee would go against the Cavs. “I think he may go, but we’ll see.”
“He just didn’t improve much,” Rivers said. “You pretty much prepare for everything, just like Woody does over there. They’ve had the same stuff, so just a lot of injuries right now for us and for them.”
If Lee can’t play, look for Jordan Crawford to have his second straight start over Jason Terry, who Rivers said, prefers to come off the bench for now.
“I talked to JET about it. We started him against Memphis and you just could see it. He likes being in this role, especially when he knows Courtney will be back and other guys will be back, and he’d rather just stay in his own role.”
