No news is not necessarily good news when it comes to the health of Kevin Garnett. The Celtics will get together for practice in a couple hours in Waltham to get ready for the Knicks tomorrow night. For now though, Celtics radio color commentator Cedric Maxwell was on Sports Sunday last night on CSNNE with Michael Felger and had a few comments about Garnett’s status that weren’t particularly encouraging for a guy that travels with the team and is “in the know.”
Is there reason to be concerned? Cedric Maxwell says so. Maxwell was on Sports Sunday with Mike Felger to discuss the seriousness of KG’s injury.
“Well I think there’s a lot of concern when you think about it,” Maxwell said.
“Last night he got on the bus … kind of limping in. So I’m just very concerned right now looking at him last night.”
Maxwell also told Felger that Garnett was wearing a boot.
“Never a good thing,” Maxwell said. “At this time of the season, never in that situation for an older player.”
When will we find out results of Garnett’s MRI?
In all likelihood, it will be in a couple hours this afternoon when Doc Rivers addresses reporters at practice. CelticsHub will be on the scene live in Waltham to relay all the latest breaking news regarding Garnett’s status moving forward. Whatever the diagnosis is, you have to think we won’t be seeing Garnett in uniform for at least a week if he’s wearing a boot. Unfortunately, it could be much more than that, although we won’t know for sure until a few hours.
Additionally, we should learn more about the health of Courtney Lee at that point as well, who is still recovering from a left sprained ankle, also suffered against Dallas Friday night. The Celtics host the Knicks at the Garden at 7pm tomorrow night. Who they will have in uniform for that game remains to be seen.
