Free agent Lou Amundson has been in discussions with the Boston Celtics, according to the big man himself. The Celtics still have one more roster spot available, even after signing D.J. White officially today to a 10-day deal and it appears they are still looking for some additional big man depth. Amundson told Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports Florida that the C’s are one of the teams he is considering signing with for the remainder of the season.
Amundson said in a phone interview Thursday that his agent, Mark Bartelstein, has had conversations with Heat president Pat Riley about him. But he said the recent signing by Miami of Chris Andersen might be too much of a duplication as the Heat seek to possibly fill their 15th spot….
The 6-foot-9 Amundson said other teams in mix for him are Chicago, Boston and New York. The Knicks have a full roster of 15, but Amundson said they’re waiting to see how it works out with Kenyon Martin, who recently signed a 10-day contract. The Knicks also could clear a roster spot by waiving Rasheed Wallace, out for the season due to a foot injury.
Amundson has had a awful year for the Wolves, but he would provide depth in the frontcourt for Boston and has shown to be a capable player in past years. The bigger question is, does he have anything left? We’ll have more on Amundson in the coming days, but for now here are some videos to remind you what the big man is capable of, back from his Suns days.
