Post-game Reactions

The amazing part of the injury to Rajon Rondo is that there are so many layers of intrigue that Rondo’s unfortunate long-term absence could potentially cause in both the short and long term implications of the Celtics franchise. With so many ideas to wrap our heads around, we deemed it necessary to fire up the CelticsHub podcast for a frank discussion on a variety of scenarios the C’s will undoubtedly face.

Can this team as currently composed remain competitive without Rondo? Are there other options for this team to blow it up without dealing Paul Pierce? If Pierce is dealt, would you have to make sure you can Kevin Garnett to waive his no-trade clause too? And just who would it be worth dealing Pierce for?

To break it all down, I am joined by 98.5 The Sports Hub show host and CelticsHub contributor Rich Keefe to try to make sense of it all. You can check out the podcast by listening below, or by downloading the mp3 as well.

Don't trade either. They're the heart and sole. Pierce was there when the Celtics were awful and he stayed. He's the reason there was a Big 3 in the first place. This is also Garnett's home, It's hard to believe this guy wasn't always a Celtic. Lets say that these guys were traded away and the celtics went on to win it all this year, It would be nice, but It wouldn't be the same. These guys have it in them to put together a run that would far exceed what anyone else could bring to the table in a trade. These guys play for the game, they grind, they bang, they go to war. You can't buy that. I agree, their time is coming to an end and yes it would be nice if they could get some help on the boards, but guess what? If there's nights Rondo and grab 10 plus boards a night there's no excuse for the big men they already have not to step up and start banging. Pierce wasn't a Kobe or Lebron or even Garnett outta high school, Paul willed himself to be one of the greatest, that's what wins games and titles. Get a guy like that to bang the boards and we'll get a title.

Young legs win basketball games. In two years, the team is going to face a crisis, when both players contracts are up. I have been a Celtics fan since the 60s, but trade them and look to the future. They are not going to win the East. Face it, and remember, young legs are needed during playoff time.
