I don't usually have a problem with national games or watching the Thunder, but having to sit through the end of a game you don't care about at all while you can't watch the Celtics is really annoying. STOP FOULING ALREADY!

      hi Phil

  • Phil

    Hey the game's on!

…And the Celtics have scored 4 points in the six minutes with Collins starting. How unsurprising.

  • janos

    Hi Brayden is Janos
Are you seen my news this week?
You know new baby is time for a special for familys.

i am home job tonight and am look forwards this game see NBA celtics flexes this guys.

  • WTF

Can Doc draw up defensive schemes to stop Crawford and Barns (huh?)?

    • Phil

Barnes, yes. That's a result of defensive breakdowns mostly. Barnes is one of the best cutters in the league, so he's gonna get some buckets like that, but the open threes are errors that should be corrected. Whether that's when Avery gets back or when the Greens and Terrys of the world play better defense, no one knows.

Crawford, no one stops. Between his ridiculous handle, size and shooting, he can get his shot off whenever he wants. He either makes them or misses them. He's been making them a lot this year.

  • Switcharoo

    This is gonna be messy.

  • WTF

It's a shame that the Cs defense has regressed so much. Slow the game down, Doc.

  • KevinG

    Done with Bass.

  • Phil

My takeaway from the game so far; the Clippers are really good. I don't even feel like the Cs are playing badly. They're not getting abused on the glass or inside, LA's just making shots, and a lot of them.

Rondo could be controlling the game better, but It's a class difference thing right now. I like the way the Cs are fighting at least, but someone needs to get hot.

  • WTF

Watching Colins play, there is no way he's better than Darko. Why was Darko not getting play time?

    • Phil

Because neither should be playing in the NBA.

  • IBleedGreen

Can we trade Rondo for DWill? I think he'll like Doc's "system".

  • Phil

    Extended garbage time alert!

  • High Rollers

Some grit. Some execution. Not nearly enough of either.

  • Mark

I don’t think this game needs a recap or grades. Lets pretend it never happened. Please?

The Celtics lost by something like 20-25 points in Game 3 agaisnt Cleveland in 2010 playoffs…but they went on to win the series, including a 32 point win in Cleveland. I'm not saying these are the same Celtics of course – Kg and Pierce cannot carry them; JET cannot step up like Ray did at that time.

Jeff Green and Courtney Lee don't play the same D or intensity that Tony Allen did. Perkins, Big Baby, and Sheed played better and with more grit than Bass and Sully… these are kids compared to those Men.

Nevertheless, even though Danny Ainge has NOT done a good job in bringing gritty players onto the team and Doc Rivers has not had much success – or any, really – turning them into a team (Mike Brown and Avery Johnson don't have his job security), I still say we need to wait until mid-season or so. One thing I do know, they cannot waste – because this is what it is right now, a waste of time – KG and Pierce to pull the dead weight they have on this team. Save KG and Pierce (and keep Rondo under 37 min a game) and play Green, Sully, Bass and Lee more minutes… let them sink or swim. And please, use Wilcox-Barbosa-2013 pick to get a rebounding big man and throw in Melo if these can get you Gortat or JJ Hickson.

    • Phil

Church of Avery my friend, Church of Avery. They're adding a tough, gritty player who plays >30 minutes of elite defense and niche offense within the week!

That 30 minutes means Terry becomes a true 6th man coming in to get his shots, not dancing around what the starters want from him, and it's less minutes for everyone else who doesn't know what a defensive rotation is.

Also, random question about that picture/commercial: Why is Cliff's last name Paul if they were separated at birth? Are we just supposed to assume that his parents filled out his birth certificate, but never found him in life despite knowing his name? Did he get adopted by a family who also had the last name Paul? Wouldn't Cliff notice that he looks exactly like CP3 'and' he has the same last name? You know people are telling him he looks like Chris Paul everywhere he goes, so the 'he doesn't watch basketball' excuse doesn't fly.

Something fishy is going on here, State Farm.

    • Josh_5

Yup totally agree. That commercial doesn't sell me at all because of the way Phil just "lawyered" them.

  • swissflix

At this point, i do not care if they lose or win. They can win as much as they want but if they are not able to play Celtics D i could not care less.
Anyone would have beaten this team last night. They were not able to stop the pick & roll, Green could not even defend a backdoorcut, and so on….it is just horrible. They have no identity on defense.
And Sully needs to check his attitude.
Please no grades. Except for PP and KG everyone just gets a Dpukeminus.

    • Josh_5

I actually agree here with you swiss. As harsh as you sound, your dead right. The regular season wins and losses are just letters on a paper. If you can't play Celtic defense and hang your identity on that, you won't beat anyone in the playoffs anyway.
