What Can Celtics Take Out of Game 1?

After struggling for the vast majority of the first three quarter in Game 1, the Boston Celtics managed to escape TD Garden with a crucial victory over the Sixers in the opener of their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup. With another gritty effort in the books, I joined Rich Keefe on 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston last night for some CelticsHub talk on the airwaves to break down just exactly what Boston could take out of Game 1, before looking ahead to what to watch for over the remainder of this series. A few of the topics the two of us hit on over the podcast include.

—The effect Ray Allen and Paul Pierce’s injuries will have on the series
—The incredible play of Kevin Garnett
—Boston’s new small lineup of Bradley, Rondo, Allen, Pierce and Garnett
—The underwhelming postseason play of Brandon Bass
—Who is the biggest threat on Philly against Boston’s defense?
—Predictions for the remainder of the series.

Haven't listened to the podcast yet, but what I took from Game 1 is that the Celtics squeaked out a W in a game in which they were down 8-10 points for most of it, and that's got to be debilitating for Philly. They were up the whole time, probably should have won, and let it slip through their fingers. That's got to be devastating for them, and it's one of those type of games that might be difficult to bounce back from. The Celtics could have broken their backs with that one, but we'll see tonight.
