|Paul Pierce, SF 35 MIN | 9-14 FG | 11-12 FT | 5 REB | 14 AST | 29 PTS | +7
With Rondo out, Pierce combined a career high in assists with otherwordly scoring efficiency (29 points on 14 shots). He also iced the game with a late jumper and some clutch free throws. You probably think I’m stingy for not giving him the A+, don’t you?
|Brandon Bass, PF 37 MIN | 7-11 FG | 7-8 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 21 PTS | +2
Points Yes, Boards No: The Brandon Bass Story.
|Kevin Garnett, PF 34 MIN | 6-15 FG | 3-4 FT | 9 REB | 1 AST | 15 PTS | -12
He’s overworked lately, playing longer minutes (32.5) in April than any month previous. His shooting’s taken a hit: he’s down to 46% from the field this month, his lowest single-month shooting percentage of the season. Still, he continues to anchor everything. We don’t need to see him again until the playoffs. Right, Doc?
|Sasha Pavlovic, SF 24 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 0 PTS | -8
The Pavlovic and Dooling lines are again eerily similar in their emptiness.
|Avery Bradley, SG 36 MIN | 10-14 FG | 2-3 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 23 PTS | -1
Is it possible Bradley is actually a great – not good – shooter, something obscured by his horrific start to the season? A career-high in points tonight, by the way.
|Keyon Dooling, PG 23 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 0 AST | 3 PTS | +10
More playing time should increase his production but he remains a non-factor on offense too often, and again tonight.
|Marquis Daniels, SG 13 MIN | 2-4 FG | 0-0 FT | 2 REB | 2 AST | 4 PTS | -3
It’s curious how he’s still deeper in the rotation than his ability dictates.
|Greg Stiemsma, C 24 MIN | 1-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 1 AST | 2 PTS | +16
Earlier in the season, I had almost exclusively negative things to say about Stiemsma, even when it was gentle negativity. Now, he changes the complexion of the game in the paint and as his reputation as a shotblocker grows, that’ll only become more of an intimidating factor against dribble penetration.
|E’Twaun Moore, G 13 MIN | 2-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 1 REB | 1 AST | 5 PTS | +9
In January, I was unimpressed with Avery Bradley. In February and March, I was unimpressed with Greg Stiemsma. Given how those player development arcs have turned out, I am pleased to note how unimpressed I am with E’Twaun Moore in April.
