View From The Opposing Bench: By The Horns

Ray Allen and Paul Pierce took last night off against the Pistons and Boston wasted a career-high from Rajon Rondo, who has even more reason to be irritated as the Celtics look for their second straight win over the Bulls. In Chicago’s favor tonight: they hung in there on Sunday despite the lack of Rose, will be looking for revenge and face a Celtics team back-to-backing (Pierce and Allen excepted; they should be plenty fresh). And they’ve only lost a single game at home all season. In Boston’s favor: after throwing away a game last night against the Pistons and playing tonight under national TV lights, there should be no letdown in effort. And, of course, it also helps to do this basketball thing without Rose tearing apart your perimeter defense every second play.

From our 5-on-5 earlier today, Brendan and Brian say Chicago strikes back while Chris and Hayes say the C’s take it. I’m going to split the difference and say Boston wins if KG plays and loses if he doesn’t. As I type this, it’s unclear if we’ll see him back, so here are two possible outcomes:

Boston 95 Chicago 91

Chicago 97 Boston 90

I hate to say it but we might have to give up the captain. KG might be old but he is the anchor to the D like everyone says. If he wasn't playing tonight it would of been a blow out. I don't even know anymore.

No you don't trade Paul Pierce. Its something you can't do.

    • ripsonics

yeah that would be like the Sonics moving! oh wait..

no but in reality, trading PP would be a slap in the face to one of the greatest Celtics of all time. Pierce stays, unless he requests to leave.

Celtics need a solid center that can defend and rebound, scoring isn't that important. Pack JO, Dooling and Daniels for some big ( and younger than 30' ) body in the paint… And about trading PP? Don't forget that he was driving this team without Rondo. He is in some kind of slump right now but he will be OK and he is Celtic for life.
