The Celtics are in Toronto to take on the Raptors today (1 p.m. EST/CSNNE). This first of two preseason games against Toronto comes exactly one week from the opening of the regular season.
Beyond Jeff Green, the C’s will also be without Paul Pierce, who continues to nurse a sore heel that’s limited his activity through the first week of what can charitably be deemed “training camp.” Rajon Rondo will attempt to play despite nursing a sprained ankle he incurred earlier in the week.
It may be a rocky game on both sides of the ball, but it’s also our first chance to see JaJuan Johnson, E’Twaun Moore and the other new members of the team in competition against another NBA team (for those that missed it earlier this weekend, Brendan uploaded a ton of the intrasquad scrimmage from Friday night). We should also get a taste of some of the wild lineups Doc Rivers has promised for this season, along with a look at a Toronto team trying to find some semblance of a defensive identity under new coach Dwayne Casey.
We’ll be back after the game to register first impressions of these 2011-12 Celtics.
In the meantime, let us know what you’re seeing.
