The second quarter was a depressing time last night. Shaquille O’Neal had just limped off the floor. The Celtics were shooting 65 percent, but still in the midst of a nip-and-tuck game with the lowly Detroit Pistons. Someone needed to do something to lighten the mood. Luckily Delonte West was up to the task, with this unintentional three-pointer.
Not sure what the best part of this play was, the actual “shot”, or West’s playful bow after the shot banked in. Either way, Jeff Green and Delonte need to work on their communication skills, but it’s still refreshing to have a guy around (a la Nate Robinson) to keep Celtics fans on their toes. It’s also nice that West is playing just about as well as anyone else on the floor the past couple games. It will be very nice for Doc Rivers to have a real backup point guard for the first time in four years upon entering this postseason.
