Post-game Reactions

Big news from the TD Garden tonight, as Shaquille O’Neal will take the floor for the first time since January according to head coach Doc Rivers. A few important key points about Shaq’s long awaited return.

  • Shaq will come off the bench. Jermaine O’Neal earns the start, as Glen Davis returns to his 6th man role off the pine, a place where Rivers prefers to have him.
  • Shaq will play just two short stints (5-7 minutes) in each half, before being shut down for the night.
  • Rivers plans on playing O’Neal just 3-4 games before shutting him down again to get ready for the playoffs.

Doc on the early return: “It’s not the best way to do it obviously, but we have no choice.”

Also good news on Nenad Krstic and Troy Murphy, who are both on pace to return Tuesday night in Philadelphia from their respective knee and ankle injuries.

Stay tuned to CelticsHub for full coverage live from the TD Garden tonight and postgame reaction from Shaq after his return to the hardwood.

    • Scott

it seems as if you were right… hopefully this isnt a major set back

  • I_Love_Green

So Nenad goes from probably done for the year, to being out for less then a week.

The tides are turning in our favor!

  • someguyinsac

This could be most welcome news, especially if he's back for the long term.

good 4 minutes of Shaq, and he's out again… great

  • someguyinsac

    Oy Vey!

  • Mike

Why didn't they save him for the playoffs…..

  • dslack

Wasn't watching. What happened to Shaq?

    • someguyinsac

The delusional part of me says stubbed his toe, but reality is it's probably the last we see of him this year barring a miracle.

  • lakershater13

his career ended running down the court.

    • dslack

      How awful. What a downer.

Guess the conspiracy theory that Shaq was really healthy and they were saving him for the playoffs wasn't right.

      • lakershater13

Tommy was talking about how his career ended on a jump ball at that age. He was saying how your body just gives out on you late in your career. So i figured the comment was fitting here. I hope Shaq can be healthy for the playoffs and contribute the way he did in 5 minutes today. At that age it is tough to get your body to stay healthy.

Calf muscle sprain, there's still hope!

    • you can't sprain a muscle… guessing its a strain

      • someguyinsac

        Dyslexic fingers are at fault!

  • It's good to see this guys winning as always. I wish they win championship this year. And i hope Shaq will be alright.
