Rajon Rondo hit a rough patch earlier this season where he played some of the worst basketball of his career. Maybe he missed his friend, maybe he missed his fully functioning pinkie, maybe he was tired/complacent. Who knows? All I know is that last night against the Indiana Pacers, the kid did some work putting up 22 points, dishing out 8 assists and (most impressively) shot 9-for-13 from the field including a much needed 7-for-9 at the rim. Obviously, Rondo’s performance was completely obscured by the awful loss incurred (say that 5 times fast).
While Rondo was going through his “funk” lots or people, Celtics’ fans included, began bringing up words like “overrated” and “not worth it”. To those, I ask how many basketball players can do this?
Alright, now how many players can make this pass, going full speed, against an above average defensive team fighting for its playoff life? If you say “many” I say you are a liar.
