Post-game Reactions

For the first time in nearly a month, the Celtics have a healthy 12-man roster to play with and it paid immediate dividends for Doc Rivers and company. After sleepwalking through the opening frame, Jeff Green led the new-look bench on a 15-2 run that helped to break open a 29-29 and keep the C’s in complete control for the rest of the evening.

If you wanted to see the blueprint for what Danny Ainge was thinking with his Perk trade and reconstructing this roster on the fly this year, tonight was it. No Celtic player played more than 29 minutes, Jeff Green got the C’s easy baskets (17 points) and Delonte West looked incredibly sharp in his return to the floor.

Plenty more to come…..but for now, plenty to be pleased about as the C’s head on the road for a tough three-game trip.

    How'd Rondo do?

  • GowGow

    Rondo 8 assists, no points.

  • Phil

I find Rondo's stats on a game by game basis can be misleading due to assists hinging on others making shots, and his scoring is only really there if the other team gives him the option. I thought he looked good tonight, a lot better than the last few games for sure. He was active on defense, and driving into the lane creating opportunities for others. I feel a lot better now than I did after the last few games.

I'm really liking this bench now too. They closed the lead in the second and kept the game out of reach in the 4th. No starter had to log real minutes. A little surprising that they seemed to rely on West as back up point instead of Arroyo, but he played well, and Rondo played <30 minutes, so no complaints here.

rondo didn't do well in my opinion… jeff green actually scored 19pts…

So damn depressing to see Perk in that OKC blue!

    • NHBluesMan

true, but great to see his new team beat the Heat!

I made it to this one in person for a change. Great team effort. Rondo still looks disconnected at times. He came on the floor well after the rest of the team and seemed to keep to himself a lot. He seemed to play his game on the court so I guess, no worries.

McRoberts was killing us on the glass. Very atheletic and pushes the ball well.

Jeff Green played great, I just hope he gets some of KG’s intensity. Even Murphy looked good on offense, defense-not so much.

What a glorious night, we had many a star,
Krstic and Green, they'll go far.
Murphy, Davis, and, of course, D West,
Of the new guys Arroyo knows the Cs' plays best.

Q1 the starters struggled but had emotion and passion
The bench energized us, playing in the same fashion.
Green stood out, 19 points had he,
And blocked shots? He had a total of three.

The Cs won the game, there should be no complaint,
Except for the lopsided points in the paint.
When we have the O'Neals, the opponents are slower,
As a rule their points in the paint lower.

One thing seemed clear, the reffing was calmer,
Was that because of the ref, Violet Palmer?
Or maybe because it was Mike and Tommy night
For thirty years they have been a comforting sight.

As always, of course, it must be said,
Of Reggie Ray is now 35 ahead!

I do. You guys should stop hating. These poems don't cost you anything.

        • I_Love_Green

Not hating, just answering a question honestly.

      • Zee

I never do, but I don't want to be so full of myself that I don't allow them to do what rocks their boat, ya know? LOL! I just ignore it.

      • GowGow

        I do.

Huge DWest fan. That guy is the toughest mofo around. Don't fall off that island bro.

  • MontrealCelticsFan

DWest looking fine and dandy to me! I'm loving this new BBM, giving the starters a break.. Still emotional about Perks (Tonight's Episode 4 didn't help either) but I now believe that Danny knew what he was doing.

    Good W.

    – I found Rondo looked great in the 3rd quarter, that sequence where he stole the ball, then took off to a fast break, passed to KG (KG couldn't quite get the ball) then got it again and got the bounce pass to Krstic off the pick and roll – that looked like Rondo again; he just flamed out a bit the last weeks, needs some rest so it's great he only got 30 minutes today
    – speaking of rest: all starters 30 and under; plus Rondo, KG and Pierce sat the entire 4th – that's good
    – defense was great today and the Pacers are no slouches on that end
    – Murphy starts to play better
    – the entire second unit was outstanding
    – refs: a lot of home cooking there, really
    – and finally: glad to have D West back, played an awesome game, very rusty still and a little bit too motivated (I think that's how he got all of his fouls – either being late or overagressive) but still; I am so conditioned to Rondo over that it's weird to see a point in a Celtics uniform that can actually take a shot from outside and make it; so new dimension for us

  • the other Alex

yeah and they killed the Celtics on the boards, KILLED em
plus: the Foster falling on Murphy incident – the whitest play ever

  • Chris O

No ones talkin about that Murphy dunk? That was beautiful
