Danny Ainge told CSNNE’s A. Sherrod Blakely that the MRI being performed today on Kevin Garnett’s right leg was requested by the player and that it was done as a precaution, not because it was required.
“Everything that I have been told,” Ainge told CSNNE.com, “it has to do with the muscle and not the knee, which is a good thing, obviously.”
Ainge said he was watching the game when Garnett suffered the injury while going up for an uncontested dunk in the first quarter.
Moments later, Ainge was on the phone talking to the C’s medical staff at the game.
“Whenever a player goes down, there’s concern,” Ainge said. “But certainly with all that Kevin’s gone through . . . yeah, there was definite concern.”
The CSNNE report goes on to note that while Garnett is expected to miss games, he’s not expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time.
More to come later today. Stay tuned.
