Ainge: MRI A Precaution, Not A Necessity

Danny Ainge told CSNNE’s A. Sherrod Blakely that the MRI being performed today on Kevin Garnett’s right leg was requested by the player and that it was done as a precaution, not because it was required.

“Everything that I have been told,” Ainge told CSNNE.com, “it has to do with the muscle and not the knee, which is a good thing, obviously.”

Ainge said he was watching the game when Garnett suffered the injury while going up for an uncontested dunk in the first quarter.

Moments later, Ainge was on the phone talking to the C’s medical staff at the game.

“Whenever a player goes down, there’s concern,” Ainge said. “But certainly with all that Kevin’s gone through . . . yeah, there was definite concern.”

The CSNNE report goes on to note that while Garnett is expected to miss games, he’s not expected to be sidelined for an extended period of time.

More to come later today. Stay tuned.

"but any expectation that we will see this guy in the next couple months on the floor is probably wishful thinking." ____Firstly let me say…..THANKYOU to the writers here at the Hub for giving the fans timely, informative updates on KG's status. Every bit of information whether it be good, bad, hopeful, encouraging, discouraging has been helpful to me and surely others, in dealing with this. You guys are AWESOME. ____Second, my hope while we wait on the MRI results is that KG's injury is a calf tear, out 4-6 weeks.

This is good news…..i can't tell you how much research(Google) i've been doing over the last 16 hours on lower leg muscles/injuries

I'll believe this when he's back on the court.

Much as I want to breathe a sigh of relief, I cannot stop thinking about 2009 when "He'll be out a few weeks" turned into the rest of the season.

I am not normally negative, but I got my hopes up then, and was completely and totally crushed by it. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

I'll breathe easy when I see him dunking an alley oop again. And that's it.

      True

I agree, it didn't really look good, but I assume it is better that is it the muscle than the knee itself,
