Post-game Reactions

Danny Ainge just finished up his weekly interview with WEEI 850 in Boston and passed along the following news that the C’s All-Star point guard  likely will be missing the next couple weeks due to his sprained ankle. Here’s some key remarks courtesy of weei.com:

“Rajon, I think, will be out for a couple of weeks, anyway,” Ainge said.

“I think that Rajon is young, and he heals fast and he loves to play, to his credit. I couldn’t believe he was back on the court last night. He wasn’t moving very well, even when he got back out on the court. You could tell he was still in a lot of pain, and certainly after the game it started puffing up. This morning there was a lot of swelling, and he definitely needs some time off.”

The injury means more minutes for Nate Robinson, who is averaging 7.7 points and 2.3 assists per game.

“Nate has been playing very well for us,” Ainge said, “and now he’s going to have to step it up and play more minutes.”

I wish it wasn't necessary, but it was clear even before he rolled his ankle last night that Rondo was nowhere near 100%. Getting him healthy is critical, and they may as well do it now.

Well this blows. Does this mean he's going to miss christmas day?

This is good(well not really good, but good there finally sitting him). We still play well with Nate starting, and personally don't care if with out Rondo means we lose Orlando game, because he will be better off with out playing and so will the team.

Go ahead and rest him. Hopefully he’ll be back by Christmas so we can cut up the struggling Magic. But I’ll live with if he’s not. We did win last year without Pierce.

Raise your hand if you thought the Cs' depth problem was going to be at the PG spot.

What are the chances Avery will start getting real minutes?

  • Well… Having done this one myself, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if Rondo's having a hard time even standing up and putting any pressure on that ankle today. He'll probably be fine tomorrow, so I still think he can play against Orlando. But missing the games between now and Christmas isn't a bad thing for him overall.
