Post-game Reactions

The Central Division has undergone a lot of changes in the offseason.  LeBron James headed south, which is exactly where his former team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, will be heading in the standings.  The fringe playoff teams also got A LOT better.  The Chicago Bulls signed Carlos Boozer to bolster their star power next to Derrick Rose and also added some solid role players in Kyle Korver, C.J. Watson, and Ronnie Brewer.  The Milwaukee Bucks may have overpaid, but they added some solid roles players in Corey Maggette and Drew Gooden to accompany stars Brandon Jennings and Andrew Bogut.  Given these changes, here are some questions to consider before you read these previews:

Are the Bucks ready to make the jump from potential first-round upsetter to second-round contender?  Are the Bulls going to have enough defensive firepower to combat the East’s top teams?  Will Darren Collison, Danny Granger, and the young guys surprise some people this year?  Will the Cavaliers surprise everyone by winning the NBA title as prophesied by owner Dan Gilbert? (No.)  Will the Pistons continue to be terrible?

The Bucks will win the Central Division by 3-5 games over the Bulls and be the 4th seed in the East, and the Cavs will make the playoffs under .500(39-43). The Pacers will make the playoffs in the next 3 years.

This is how the East will be shaped come playoff time:

    1)Miami
    2)Orlando
    3)Boston
    4)Milwaukee
    5)Chicago
    6)Atlanta
    7)Charlotte
    8)Cleveland

  • @John, your message should come with a Spoiler alert

    @John
u think the cavs are making the playoffs over the knicks? lol

  • Perry

Injury prone Boozer breaks hand … out for two months.

  • Rangatiratanga

DUN DUUUUUUUUN poor Chicago.I doubt the Cavs will make the playoffs,i got New York in there with New Jersey,Philly,Washington and possibly Indiana figting it out for 8th.

  • Rangatiratanga

And you know 8 weeks for Boozer is really 14 weeks.

  • dont_drink_the_koolaid

    1) Celtics
    2) Heat
    3) Magic
    4) Bucks
    5) Bulls
    6) Hawks
    7) Wizards
    8) Bobcats

    Biggest bed-sh*tters: Hawks, Knicks
    Biggest positive surprises: Wiz, Celtics

I see the Cs leading the east from opening night until the end of the season. Put that on the record.

I think the booz injury won’t hurt bulls much. A few extra losses early, but Gibson is solid, and extra reps for him will help them come playoff time.

  • Perry

Bulls will be able to recover in time for the post season, but you have to believe it will effect their continuity since Boozer has never played with Rose. A fast start is a lot to ask for considering this injury and the new coaching staff. Now the Deer can create some space in the central … if Bogut remains healthy.

  • Rangatiratanga

I think the Bulls WILL suffer from this Booze injury, that’s 20-10 their missing to start their season with. They got 11 out of 18 games on the road till his possible return date, that’s even if he heals in time.Tough schedule for them and even with Taj stepping up,they don’t have anyone who could replace Boozer’s 20-10.But you never know with Thibs running things, still,i think they’ll suffer from Booze’s injury.

@koolaid- put down that glass of green kool aid brother. Although if they do get the #1 seed you can change your name to The Prophet.

  • dont_drink_the_koolaid

@Rangatiratanga: agree with @Perry, it will hurt them in the regular season (the bucks should take the 4seed now), but the extra run for Taj will help them in the ‘real’ season.

@I love Green: if KG is – as being reported – a fierce young man again… Cs will roll table. KG + JO + Shaq will make girlfriend’s out of RuPaul and the miami bigs. That season opener is going to be nasty.

@don’t drink: Your comment at green is hilarious. I’ve been so amped for Oct. 26th ever since training camp began.

“Will the Cavaliers surprise everyone by winning the NBA title as prophesied by owner Dan Gilbert? (No.)”

OMG! this should go out as a classic saying hahahaha

    😀

@kool aid- I enjoyed that response, and I do think we will dominate opening night. Howeva this team needs to make it through January-March. Which is when they will most likely get bored.

@Zain- I’ve been so amped for Oct. 26th since I got the text from ESPN that we were opening up against the Heat.

To answer the questions… “There’s a chance.” “Better, but still not happening.” “You are kidding, right?” “Agreed, no. It’s *Cleveland,* after all.” “Safest bet of the season, right there.”

  • Tom W

I think Miami is going to win 70+ games this year during the regular season, then get steamrolled by the C’s in the playoffs. Personal prediction.
