Post-game Reactions

Let’s go with the playoff efficiency rankings, just for kicks.

Offensive Efficiency:

Boston: 105.3 points/100 possessions (11th of 16)

Miami: 96.8 points allowed/100 possessions (16th)

Defensive Efficiency: Just reverse those numbers and rankings.

Consider this your Game 5 open thread. Tell us what you’re seeing—What are the C’s doing well? Is Wade guarding Rondo? Are we sure that’s actually Jermaine O’Neal and not, say, Jim McIlvaine? What adjustments have the teams made?

Drop us a line. Brian Robb is at the Garden and will recap this mother for you. Let’s hope we can start talking about the Cavs after tonight.

If Milwaukee somehow upsets Atlanta, I think the Celtics face Orlando in round 2. I don’t think Van Gundy would like that based on his whining about too many days off in the postseason. Such days help an old squad like the C’s. Maybe we should root for the Bucks.

is this true nickfaldo? that would be nice

  • Dan

No, it’s not. The NBA doesn’t re-seed. The winner of the Celts-Heat will play the winner of the Cavs-Bulls.

Another day in the playoff madness… OK Zombies over the Lake show, C’s trounce their woefully under-matched opponent, the bulls make the cavs play and the spurs end it tonight… Predictions if you will…

  • ranen645

@ dan thats what i thought

  • MiamiBoston winner gets Cleveland. No re-seeding. I actually think the NBA should re-seed, hockey style.

These turnovers are killing my soul. How does Perkins work on not committing TOs over the summer?

  • Five early TOs and some missed D assignments. C’s can pull this at home against Miami. But against the Cavs? Clean it up.

  • RBD

They came out lifeless in the first quarter. Played that way all the way to the first timeout. Sloppy turnovers, and only intermittently energetic. It’ll be enough tonight. But I’m still waiting for evidence this team is any different than the regular season Celtics. Right now, it’s some good and some bad. The good results are largely due to the fact we’re playing a crappy team like Miami.

It’s tragic to see the way Perk has regressed on the offensive end. He was finishing so well for about a year, and this year he just lost it. Takes him forever to put the shot up and he just doesn’t believe it’s going in.

  • RBD

@Sophomore – agree on Perk. He’s one of the worst in the league at getting a shot up quickly. Becoming a real problem.

This officiating is DOG POOP, that and TO’s r the only reason Miami is not MIA.

  • Let’s see Boston come out and at least keep this lead at 10 or 12 over the first 6:00 of the 3rd.

    Agreed like Hockey and Football

Perk’s doing better tonight. Sorry about my seeding mistake. Here’s a prediction. One year this lack of rewarding the better teams will backfire, and the rule will be changed. This probably won’t happen, but if Chicago beats Cleveland, and Atlanta prevails, then Orlando would get the Hawks, and the Celtics would get the scrub team. Not only would Orlando get ripped off, so would Atlanta losing home court for round 2.

  • Chris O.

BTW guys, you figured the C’s would have to play two out of three of Atlanta, Orlando, and Cleveland. I would rather we play CLeveland and Orlando God willing (that we keep winning) because Atlanta is a HORRIBLE match up problem for us.

  • RBD

I’d rather have ATL than ORL despite the regular season. They look like they’re shrinking from the moment. Orlando is just getting rolling….

    Ray Ray!

I was one of those who thought, mid-season, that he was done. Happy to be proved wrong.

  • Joel W

Zach, or you know, push it to 21.

  • Sophomore

@Zach – nice old-school graphic for this post, by the way.

  • Joel W

    Computer assistance back on.

  • Chris O.

    From 21 to 6…not happy

  • Are finally through the dicey portions of the game?

  • I love this move of putting Pierce on Wade late.

  • Chris O.

    Hope so…hope so

CAN WE GET RAY ALLEN’S MOM TO COME TO EVERY GAME?

4-4 FROM 3 PT LAND WITH HIS MAMA IN THE STANDS 🙂

  • Chris O.

Hell yea, Wyc give that woman season long floor seats

  • Sophomore

Bad officiating on both sides of the floor, but the Heat flops are starting to remind me of European soccer players.

  • JP

    Bring on the Cavs

  • Chris O.

    Woohoo

  • Dan

What do you guys think of Doc keeping Davis on the floor down the stretch over Perkins? Was this just because of the mismatch over a short Miami front court or will we see more of Big Baby in the future?
